Chicago Guitar Festival Friday & Saturday 8PM Tickets $20
Scheduled from Wednesday, October 6th to Thursday, October 14th, 2010, the festival will include a week of performances by guitarists from all over the world at venues across the Chicagoland area. The festival aims to enrich the pallet of the area's listening audiences by featuring a combination of Chicago's homegrown artists and internationally-renowned guitarists. Performing at The Acorn will be Renato Anesi w/ The Andreas Kapsalis & Goran Ivanovic Guitar Duo and Tim Sparks.
Fall Tasting in The Wine Shop at the Acorn. The Wine Shop will have a tasting of seasonal brews and winter wines.
Maria Muldaur Sunday 4PM Maria Muldaur's musical roots run deep. Born and raised in New York City's Greenwich Village, Muldaur was surrounded by bluegrass, old-timey, jazz, blues and gospel music, but her very first musical influences were from the records of country and western singers Hank Williams, Kitty Wells, Hank Snow and Ernest Tubb. Responsible for the HIT song "Midnight at the Oasis," her newest album, Yes We Can! showcases the work of some of the most socially conscious songwriters of the past half-century: Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye, Allen Toussaint, Earl King and Garth Brooks, to name a few. Maria will be performing at The Acorn with Her Red Hot Bluesiana Band making a rare midwestern appearance. A do not miss show!

Come pick out your pumpkin at our FREE pumpkin patch and carve your favorite scary face for entry into our Pumpkin Carving Contest. All contestants are welcome. Safe pumpkin carving tools and other fun supplies provided. Parental supervision required for children carvers. Judging at 5:30 p.m. Then enjoy an Outdoor Movie under the stars in our Camp Buffalo Amphitheater. Movie will be selected by popular choice from our library. Serving as the grand finale to Harbor Country Harvest Days, Skip's Restaurant's Fourth Annual Chili Cook-off on Sunday, Oct. 10 will feature chefs competing with bar managers, local folk sparring with restaurants, sisters attempting to knock off hair stylists and best friends trying to regain their championship, all under the big tent in Skip˙s parking lot at the corner of Red Arrow Highway and Lakeshore Road in New Buffalo. For the past several weeks, teams have been fine-tuning their chili recipes in the hopes that they will win the Judges Award or the much-coveted Peoples Choice Award or both. In addition to an eclectic line-up of contestants, guests to this event also can expect to sample a wide variety of chili styles including vegetable chili, white chili, spicy chili, spicy-sweet chili, chunky chili and traditional chili, to name a few. In addition to the cook-off, there will be a mini farmers market, pumpkin carving and painting for kids, a cash bar and live entertainment. The entry fee, which includes all the fun, chili and fixings one could possibly imagine, is $10 for adults; children six to 12 are half price and children under six are free.
